GNB is conducting various campaigns for reducing Child Marriage in its working areas. Good Daddy Campaign is the most highlighted and attractive program among all its programs to save the young girl child from the curse of child marriage. The objective of this campaign is to involve fathers in fighting against child marriage.

The study says that 75% of child marriage (Unicef, 2017) is happening in rural areas (Sumon, M. N. K., 2014). Father is the key decision-maker in the family, where child marriage is prevalent (McDougal, L., Jackson, E.C., McClendon, K.A., 2018). Bangladeshi perspective, the father is the main earner and he is the decision-maker of a family. Therefore, fathers can play an essential role in reducing child marriage. That is why GNB is conducting a Good Daddy campaign with the involvement of the fathers.

As per the Sustainable Development Goals target 5.3, Bangladesh has committed to eliminating child early and forced marriage by 2030. To fulfill this goal, we should raise our voice more, and as the father plays the main role of decision-making for a family, we should make a plan to involve fathers to reduce child marriage, for which GNB is implementing the Good Daddy campaign in its 17 Community Development Projects.

Campaign Objectives:

  • To create lasting awareness among the community people on how to fight against Child Marriage.
  • To involve the fathers in the campaign to fight against Child Marriage & Child Labor
