Project Closing Ceremony and Adolescent Corner Handover: A New Chapter for Girls in Dinajpur
Good Neighbors Bangladesh proudly celebrated the closing ceremony of the Better Life for Girls project and the handover of Adolescent Corners in four secondary schools in Dinajpur.
This initiative was a response to a widespread issue: girls missing school due to a lack of knowledge, support, and facilities related to menstrual hygiene. The Better Life for Girls project provided more than just infrastructure—it restored dignity, confidence, and hope.
“Now I know how to stay clean. I come to school regularly. I am confident.” – A student beneficiary
Key Highlights:
• 4 Adolescent Corners created as safe spaces for girls during menstruation
• 882 adolescent girls received dignity kits, educational booklets, and menstrual hygiene sessions
• 4 Girls’ Hygiene Clubs formed, engaging 80 student members and 4 teacher mentors
• 4 Management Committees established to maintain the facilities
• 10 teachers trained to lead menstrual hygiene education with empathy and expertise
The closing ceremony was graced by the District Education Officer of Dinajpur as Chief Guest, with special guests including the Upazila Secondary Education Officer and Family Planning Officer. The event was presided over by our Managing Director, who also inaugurated the newly established adolescent corners.
This project is a powerful reminder that change begins with understanding and support. Menstrual health is not just a health issue—it’s a human rights issue. And for the girls of Dinajpur, a better life has just begun.
