Closing Ceremony of Samsung C&T 12th Village Project in Dhaka

In the vibrant neighborhoods of Pallabi and Badda in Dhaka, a quiet transformation has reshaped the educational landscape. From November 2023 to April 2025, the Samsung C&T 12th Village Project, implemented by Good Neighbors Bangladesh, worked to establish child-friendly school environments and promote quality education for 2,233 students across four underserved schools.

On April 29, 2025, the Samsung C&T 12th Village Project celebrated its official closing at Hotel Sarina. The colorful event included student performances, heartfelt speeches from head teachers, and words of encouragement from dignitaries like Dr. AQM Shafiul Azam and Samsung representative Mr. Yang Joo Eok. The Managing Director of Good Neighbors Bangladesh, Mr. Bartin Gomes, delivered the closing remarks, reaffirming the commitment to quality education and community resilience.

The Samsung C&T 12th Village Project brought transformative change to four schools; Islamia High School, Bauniabandh Ideal High School, Alhaz Abbas Uddin High School, and Vatara Good Neighbors School—that had long struggled with poor infrastructure and limited resources. Classrooms were revitalized with fresh paint and new furniture, while boundary walls were beautified to foster a welcoming learning environment. Modern science and multimedia labs, along with enriched libraries featuring updated books and furnishings, enhanced educational resources. Vatara GN School also benefited from improved water filtration and sanitation facilities, positively impacting students’ health. To support academic readiness, 1,765 students received educational kits containing school bags, stationery, umbrellas, and geometry boxes. Additionally, 30 classrooms were equipped with whiteboards and teaching aids, while 85 teachers participated in a seminar to strengthen inclusive, child-friendly teaching approaches and improve engagement with students and parents. A strong focus on student health was reflected through full medical checkups, nutrition support, and hygiene awareness campaigns. Adolescent girls received sanitary napkins and menstrual education, boosting confidence and school attendance. Hygiene kits with soap, hand wash, toothpaste, and toothbrushes were distributed to reinforce healthy habits. These comprehensive efforts created vibrant, student-friendly learning spaces, reduced absenteeism, and increased morale among students and educators alike.

Environmental initiatives played a key role in the project’s sustainability goals. Solar-powered streetlights enhanced school safety. Waste management systems were installed, and eco-friendly rest spaces with benches and umbrellas provided students with areas to relax. School Green Clubs, made up of student leaders and teachers, maintained school gardens and promoted environmental consciousness. Art competitions and awareness campaigns further encouraged students and parents to embrace eco-friendly habits.

The Samsung C&T 12th Village Project successfully bridged educational gaps and empowered communities. Its impact cleaner, safer, and more vibrant learning environments will continue to influence future generations, proving that with the right support, every child can thrive.
