A Legacy of Leadership: Country Director’s Farewell & Handover
Dhaka, February 25, 2025—Good Neighbors Bangladesh organized a heartfelt Farewell and handover Ceremony at its Head Office, honoring the leadership and contributions of outgoing Country Director Mr. M Mainuddin Mainul. The event was attended by esteemed representatives of national and international partners, stakeholders, and the NGO Affairs Bureau, including Project Director Mr. Asif Mahmud, who graced the occasion as a special guest.
During the ceremony, partners and stakeholders expressed their deep gratitude for Mr. Mainul’s remarkable dedication and impact throughout his tenure. They lauded his strategic vision and unwavering commitment to advancing humanitarian efforts, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring the smooth operation of Good Neighbors’ diverse programs across Bangladesh.
Mr. A J M Azharul Islam, representative of WFP Bangladesh, shared his thoughts on the successful project implemented in partnership with WFP Bangladesh and Good Neighbors Bangladesh in 2019. He highlighted that the project, which began with anticipatory action and Forecast-based Financing for Disaster Risk Reduction, was one of the most successful initiatives. He also praised Mr. Mainul for his proactive leadership, strategic approach, and commitment to staff capacity development.
The event also featured video documentaries highlighting Good Neighbors Bangladesh’s Growth and Reformation Initiatives 2018-2024, along with cultural performances to celebrate the occasion. Representatives from local governance bodies, development partners, and INGOs extended their best wishes to Mr. Mainul for his future endeavors while welcoming Mr. Bartin Gomes into his new role.
Mr. Mainul, in his farewell speech, emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among partners, authorities, and the Good Neighbors team to uphold and expand the organization’s mission. As a symbolic gesture of transition, he officially handed over responsibilities to Mr. Bartin Gomes, the newly appointed Managing Director of Good Neighbors Bangladesh. Mr. Bartin Gomes began his journey with Good Neighbors Bangladesh in February 2025, previously serving as the Director of the Admin Affairs Unit.
Mr. Asif Mahmud expressed his admiration for Mr. Mainul’s journey from the beginning of his career to reaching a top management position and now being appointed as a Country Director of another country, which is a matter of pride for all. He also congratulated Mr. Bartin Goomes on his new position, expressing hope that communication will continue. On behalf of the NGO Affairs Bureau, he appreciated the outgoing Country Director for his outstanding contributions as a leader of Good Neighbors in the development sector.
