Coastal Harmony Project: A 4-Year Collaboration Begins Between GNB and Jago Nari

Good Neighbors Bangladesh and Jago Nari Forge Partnership to Strengthen Coastal Communities Through ‘Coastal Harmony’ Project


DHAKA, BANGLADESH – 19 June 2025 – Good Neighbors Bangladesh (GNB) and Barguna Nari Jagaron Karmosuchi (Jago Nari) today formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the “Coastal Harmony: Resilient Ecosystem, Thriving Communities (CHRETC)” project. The partnership aims to foster community-led conservation, enhance women’s leadership in climate resilience, and promote inclusive, ecosystem-based livelihood opportunities in vulnerable coastal regions, particularly in the Barguna & Patuakhali district.


The CHRETC project aims to address the urgent environmental and socio-economic challenges faced by coastal populations, focusing on Mangrove restoration, sustainable ecosystem management, livelihood diversification through establishment of Cooperative by Women and community-led climate adaptation strategies. The partnership will leverage GNB’s extensive experience in community development and Jago Nari’s deep-rooted expertise in women’s empowerment and grassroots mobilization in the Coastal Zone.


The MoU was signed by Mr. Bartin Gomes, Managing Director of Good Neighbors Bangladesh, and Ms. Hosne Ara Hasi, Chief Executive of Jago Nari.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Bartin Gomes stated, “This partnership with Jago Nari is a testament to our shared commitment to creating lasting positive change. The ‘Coastal Harmony’ project is not just about environmental protection; it is about building a future where coastal communities, especially women and children, can thrive despite the challenges of climate change. Jago Nari’s local knowledge and community trust are invaluable assets that will ensure the project’s success.”


Ms. Hosne Ara Hasi of Jago Nari expressed her optimism for the collaboration. “This MoU is a significant milestone for the people of Coastal area of Barguna & Patuakhali. Partnering with a respected international organization like Good Neighbors Bangladesh will amplify our efforts to empower women as leaders in climate action and secure sustainable livelihoods for their families. Together, we will work to restore ecological balance and build a resilient community from the ground up.”


The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both organizations. From Jago Nari, attendees included Ms. Roksana Perveen, Advisor; Md. Duke Ivn Amin, Director of Communication & Resource Mobilization; and Ms. Arthee Prokrity, Public Relation (PR) Officer. The senior management team and staff of Good Neighbors Bangladesh were also present to witness the landmark agreement.


This partnership reaffirms the power of collaboration between national NGOs in advancing Bangladesh’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the context of climate action, gender equality, and community empowerment.
