Turning Knowledge into Impact: A Journey from Classroom to Community

Bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world practice, The Hong Kong Research Centre for Asian Studies – Bangladesh
Centre (RCASBC)
, in collaboration with the Department of International Relations, University of Chittagong, successfully organized an interactive session titled “From Classroom to Community: Development Communication in Practice.”

The session was conducted by Md. Al-Imran Monju, Communications and Partnership Team Manager of Good Neighbors Bangladesh,
and was chaired by Professor Dr. Sujit Kumar Dutta, Director of RCASBC.

The session brought together around 80 students from different departments of the University of Chittagong, creating a diverse and energetic learning environment. What stood out most was the active and thoughtful participation of the students, who engaged deeply with the discussion throughout the session.

From attentive listening to asking meaningful questions and sharing perspectives, the participants demonstrated a strong interest in understanding how development communication works beyond theoretical knowledge. Their involvement made the session highly interactive and impactful.

Connecting Classroom Knowledge with Real-World Practice

Through practical discussions and real-life examples, the session helped students understand how communication plays a crucial role in
the development sector. It highlighted how ideas learned in classrooms translate into action within communities, and how effective communication can influence positive social change.

The discussion also shed light on the realities of working in the development field, offering students a clearer picture of how communication strategies are applied in addressing social challenges and delivering impact on the ground.

The session created a space where learning went beyond lectures. It became a platform for the exchange of ideas, reflection, and exploration, where students could relate their academic knowledge to real-world scenarios.

The enthusiasm and sincerity shown by the participants made the program vibrant and successful, reflecting their eagerness to learn and
grow.

RCASBC extends its sincere gratitude to the speaker, chair, participants, and everyone involved in organizing this session. Their collective efforts made the program a meaningful and enriching experience for all.

This session stands as a reminder that true learning begins when classroom knowledge connects with real-life experiences, and the journey towards impact starts with curiosity, engagement, and participation.
