#EarthUs Campaign: Youth-Led Environmental Action in Kurigram CDP
Celebrating World Environment Day 2025 with Purpose and Impact
Every year, World Environment Day reminds us of our shared responsibility to protect the planet we call home. This year, the vibrant youth of the Nature and Peace Club under Kurigram CDP of Good Neighbors Bangladesh took this message to heart with an innovative and action-oriented campaign — the #EarthUs Campaign.
Turning Awareness into Action
To mark the occasion, the youth-led Nature and Peace Club launched a series of impactful activities designed to promote environmental awareness and encourage eco-friendly behavior in the community. Their focus was on three core initiatives:
Plastic Exchange Fair: From Waste to Growth
A unique Plastic Exchange Fair was organized, where participants were encouraged to bring in plastic waste in exchange for tree saplings. The idea was simple but powerful — turning pollution into plantation. This initiative not only helped reduce plastic from the environment but also contributed to increasing local greenery, reinforcing the message of sustainable living.
Cleaning Campaign: Restoring Community Spaces
As part of their efforts, the youth also conducted a community cleaning campaign, focusing on public spaces and areas frequently littered with waste. Armed with gloves, garbage bags, and strong determination, the young volunteers cleaned streets, markets, and community zones — setting an example of civic responsibility and collective action.
Tree Distribution: Planting Hope
In addition to the fair, tree saplings were freely distributed among community members to encourage plantation at the household level. This symbolic act was a reminder that environmental protection begins at home, and that each planted tree is a step toward a safer future.
Engaging the Community
The campaign also sparked meaningful conversations with local residents about the dangers of plastic pollution, the importance of greenery, and ways individuals can contribute to a cleaner environment. Local leaders, teachers, and parents expressed appreciation for the youth-led efforts and pledged to continue supporting environmental causes.
Why It Matters
The #EarthUs Campaign is more than just a one-day celebration — it reflects the growing awareness and leadership of youth in tackling climate challenges. By linking practical action with advocacy, the Nature and Peace Club has inspired many in Taltali to rethink their habits and become part of the solution.
Good Neighbors Bangladesh continues to support such youth-driven initiatives that align with our commitment to environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and global development goals.
Let’s all do our part — because the Earth isn’t just ours, it’s all of ours. #EarthUs
